Radar version 2.0
|
This new version of the radar brings many fonctionalities:
- Fully compatible with FS2004 and FSX
- No need of FSUIPC
- Shows AI traffic and other player aircrafts during multi-player sessions, including IBNet sessions
- Available in 2 colors (amber and green) for all aircraft generations
- 2 screen shapes available (rectangular and circular)
- GDI+ graphics for smoother rendering
- Improved performance
The best way to have comprehensive information about the new version is to read the
documentation.
It explains the radar usage, which is very similar to the version 1.0, and explains
how to integrate the new radar in your panels. For users who have integrated the old
radar in existing panels, a specific section explains how to replace it with the new radar.
Anyone who can edit a text file can do it.

Documentation
This documentation explains all the features of the new Radar v2.0, including the way to integrate it
in your own panels.
Sample Panels
Some panels are available here to show how the radar gauge can be integrated.
Lockheed-Martin F-16 Viper I have update my F-16 panel originally designed for 2002 (Block 20). It is available here as a single auto-installer that includes the radar gauge 2.0 and the Head-Up Display developed by SimScape. In addition, SimScape has fully re-worked my original F-16 panel to upgrade it to a Block 50 version, with much more advanced features. It includes the radar gauge 2.0 and the F-16 Head-Up Display designed by SimScape. The HUD is linked to the radar to display the radar selected target on the HUD. The panel is freeware, for FS2004 and FSX (SP1 or SP2). See the SimScape F-16 panel page for more information. |
Dassault Mirage 4000 This is a SimScape update of the Mirage 4000 project created with Romain Lucas. The panel has been updated to integrate the new radar and the new HUD. For more information, click here for more information. Please note this panel was originally designed for FS2004. Simscape re-worked some gauges so that the panel is now fully compatible with FSX (SP1 or SP2). |
Automatic Radar Installation
Adding the radar gauge in an existing aircraft panel requires the edition of the corresponding panel.cfg file. Many people know how to edit this file or can copy and paste the necessary section from the sample panels described above.
For the radar users who don't know how to edit a panel.cfg, or who do not want to know, the Radar Panel Updater is available since February 2013 to automate the integration of the radar gauge into any existing panel. No need to edit the panel.cfg, this utility does it for you. It is a free addition and it is available here.
Download the ZIP file, unzip it anywhere on your hard drive and run it. When the window appears, select your Flight Sim version (FS2004 or FSX) and the utility will scan your aircraft library. When it is done, brwose the library through its manufacturer, model, variation to select an aircraft. Then choose the radar options: size of the radar window, position, radar color and shape, and press 'Add Radar Gauge to Panel'. A message window indicates the success of the operation.

Support
A minor bug was discovered and fixed on June 9th, 2007.This
bug was causing a "buffer overrun" error when using the radar in
multi-player in certain conditions. If you purchased the radar before
this date, you just have to re-download it and re-install it. You do
not need to register it again.
For those you purchased the radar after June 9th, there is no problem.
Some users reported a problem when using the radar with FS2004, saying they couldn't see any aircraft.
This is just because a file is missing,I thought it was coming with the standard FS installation, but
it doesn't. It has been added in the radar installer, but if you have installed the radar earlier,
you just have to download the missing file "TrafficInfo.dll"
HERE and put it in the "Modules" directory of FS2004.
